Carter Nicholls and our website.
We are
Chartered Accountants & Registered Auditors based in Staplefield, near
Haywards Heath in West Sussex, although our client base reaches Sussex,
Kent, Surrey and London, and we oversee our clients activities in
Scotland, Wales and internationally.
We are
well into our sixth year in Staplefield since relocating from Westerham
in Kent. Since our relocation to West Sussex, we have added many new
local clients to our portfolio which was part of our strategy whilst
continuing to support our existing clients.

There
were no big surprises in respect of income tax, corporate tax, National
insurance or capital gains tax. There were significant changes to the
taxation of company cars with the some cars attracting a 20% writing
down allowance and some just 10%, depending on CO2 emissions. At 10%
writing down allowance it will take 25 years to fully write down the
cost. It is also remarkable that one year after they were abolished
first year allowances have been reintroduced for qualifying additions in
excess of the £50,000 annual investment allowance. More details can be

We have
also included important news with regards to tax penalties
which are now based on culpability. It is important to be able to
demonstrate that you have taken reasonable care in order to mitigate
such penalties. We will be offering our clients a systems health check.
You can

Act 2006,
implementation dates
and the subsequent Penalties which is soon to be completely enacted,
tax efficient

Cars,
and the ever increasing likelihood of getting a
Tax
Enquiry
which many of our clients are experiencing the trauma as well as us, as
they are incredibly time consuming. We have been involved in quite a few
over the past two years and can only see that increasing in the future.
